The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) film festival will be held in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province from June 13 to 17, an official said Wednesday.

Qingdao has been designated as the City of Film, becoming one of the thirteen Cities of Film in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) and the first of its kind in China.

On the evening of April 20, Key Domestic Films Promotion Meeting organized to welcome the upcoming 19th CPC National Congress and the 15th Domestic Films Promotion of China Cinema Lines was held in Qingdao West Coast New Area. Stars and filmmakers including Li Chen, Fan Bingbing, Huang Bo, Hai-Qing, Zhang Yi, Jia Zhangke, John Woo, and Ning Hao joined the events. Huang Bo invited movie fans across the nation to "see seascape and drink beer in Qingdao".
